 "My name is Blake Holmes and I will be a freshman at the University of Central Arkansas in the fall of 2013. I’ve always looked at myself as being blessed throughout my life. God really has blessed me way more than I have realized. He put me in a great church growing up and gave me a wonderful and great family. I may not have a normal family but they are my family and I love them and thank God that He put me here. He gave me one of the best gifts in the world and that is the ability to play sports. Sports are my life. I’ve played baseball since I was four and basketball since I was seven. I don’t know where I would be without them. That’s where I met my good friend Mike Hairston and we played on the Phillies together. I thank God that He gave me the ability to play because they taught me a lot. Not just the sport itself but I always had great coaches that knew exactly what they are doing. They taught me a whole lot about life. God really uses people throughout your life to point you where you need to go. Some people listen some don’t but I am glad I listened."

 “I’ve always considered myself to be tremendously blessed. I have a wonderful family with wonderful friends. Most of all, I know I’m blessed because I get to wake up each and every morning knowing there is a God that loves me and gives me a chance to get to know him every day. Ever since I was about three years old, I have been playing the game of baseball. I have developed into a pretty good player. I have no doubt in my mind that I would not be the person or the player that I am now without God in my life. My favorite bible verse is Philippians 4:13. This says, “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” Anybody who has ever played baseball knows that baseball is a game of ups and downs. Something can be going great one moment and with a blink of an eye, it can all go downhill. When things do go downhill, I always think about this verse. No matter what life brings me on and off the field, I know that I can do anything through my God. My God is an amazing God and I am truly blessed to be able to serve someone as awesome as him.”
